Welcome to the home page of the Palau Megapode Project! This exciting research project is focussed on researching the poorly known and endangered sub-species of the Micronesian Megapode Megapodius senex laperouse in the Republic of Palau. This mound-nesting bird is threatened by a host of factors including rising sea levels, invasive rats and tourist visitation to nesting islands. The project is managed by Dr Rob Davis of the Davis Wildlife Lab at Edith Cowan University, and works closely with a number of collaborators and partners in Palau and in Australia. See the People link for more.

Please check back regularly for the latest updates from the field, as we work to discover more about this threatened bird.
